Beagle 2 went silent on Christmas Day 2003 and was identified 11 years later in Mars-orbit images on Isidis Planitia, having apparently landed successfully and begun deploying its solar panels. The images suggested that one or more panels remained closed - Space Daily

Orbital images suggested Beagle 2 survived its Mars landing but could not communicate. Later modelling refined the solar-panel interpretation without conclusively establishing the failure.
